Texans' Laremy Tunsil, Tyrod Taylor hand out Thanksgiving meals

Texans Pro Bowl left offensive tackle Laremy Tunsil and starting quarterback Tyrod Taylor are accustomed to collaborating on the field.

The two NFL veterans teamed up off the field Tuesday afternoon to hand out Thanksgiving meals to 300 families from the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Houston and the YMCA of Greater Houston at NRG Stadium.

They were joined by safety Justin Reid pitching in to help out along with Toro, the Texans' mascot, Texans cheerleaders, Tunsil's business manager and friend, Laolu Sanni, and Tunsil's brother, Alex Weber, along with philanthropy specialist Laila Souktani and Taylor's charitable foundation.

"It's very special," Taylor said. "We all come, for the most part, from humble beginnings. The more you give back to the community, the better the community is. It's very special for us to devote some of our time. The holidays is a special time of the year, but it can also be a tough time for families. Me and Laremy put this on, and J-Reid came out to support it.

"It puts a lot into perspective. There are real problems in the community and in this nation. The little we are able to give back, it goes a long way. I'm happy to be a part of it. It's a warming and loving kind of interaction, a lot of smiles a lot of, 'Go Texans.'

Growing up in Hampton, Va., Taylor was often at the local Boys & Girls Club and working out at the YMCA.

"I spent a lot of time there," he said. "Those days take me back. Obviously, it had a part in me getting to where I'm at today."

Taylor said that Thanksgiving is one of his favorite holidays. His mother does all the cooking.

"I like to eat," he said. "I'm an only child. It's always special for me."

Taylor said that his favorite dish is macaroni and cheese.

"It's all mac and cheese," he said. "We can worry about the rest later."

Taylor smiled when asked about New England Patriots outside linebacker Matthew Judon declaring mac and cheese as "disgusting."

"That's all personal preference," he said. "I like it."
