The following is in an effort to expediate the coming football season.
How would you rank the teams in the BIG 12 SOUTH this coming season?
Here's what I've got:
1- Oklahoma. They're incredibly solid in the trenches. You have to love their QB. They're going to be a bit thin at linebacker, but overall you'd have to consider them a National Championship contender. Of course to win a National Title, they'll actually have to win a BCS bowl game.
2- Texas. They have a tough schedule and questions on defense. We'll see if Will Muschamp can a true difference maker, as he's been touted. Offensively it'll be interesting to see how Mack Brown fills the void left by Jamal Charles.
3- Texas Tech. Depth and experience! They have 36 returning players! Graham Harrell is one of the best in the country.
4- Texas A&M. It'll be year 1 for Mike Sherman and he'll face challenges. The offensive line lost 4 players and they'll have some HUGE questions in that secondary.
5- Oklahoma State. They ranked 101st in total defense last season.
6- Baylor. Art Briles will help, but he doesn't have a QB on his roster who closely resembles Kevin Kolb.

Remind me ... do the Texans have a QB controversy?

I know we're still 40+ days away from the start of the 2008 NFL season but remind me, do the Texans have a QB controversy?
It's an interesting question. On one hand the Texans went all out just over a year ago when they traded for Matt Schaub. They swapped 1st round picks and gave up two 2nd round picks to get him. Then they threw huge money at the guy to keep him around for a long time.
At times Schaub looked very good last season. He helped the taem get off to a 3-2 start. In those first 5 games he threw 5 TDS and just 3 picks.
That said, he missed 5 of the team's final 11 games. Sage Rosenfels took advantage of an opportunity and helped the Texans win 3 of their final 4 games.
So, has Schaub done ENOUGH to be handed the job this season? Are you comfortable saying that you're 100% sure that Schaub is the best guy for the job? Would it kill anybody to open up camp with a little competition between the 2 guys? CLICK HERE to tell me if there's a problem...
Pick the AFC SOUTH!

Ready for football?
Texans camp gets going later this week. A lot of folks have high expectations for his team after winning 8 games last year. Having said that, this is going to be a tough division again.
The Colts are division champs. Marvin Harrison and Dwight Freeney figure to return healthy.
The Jags brought in Jerry Porter and Troy Williamson to help out David Garrard.
The Titans added Algae Crumpler and they drafted Chris Johnson.
The Texans will presumably have a healthy Matt Schaub and Andre Johnson.
Last year the Colts ended up 13-3. Jacksonville was 11-5. Tennessee was 10-6 and yuor Texans were 8-8.
